Unable to change preferences of Rstudio Desktop-Mac

Hi,

I am trying to install and use R on the new apple M1 Pro max macbooks. I am however, unable to change any of the preferences, when I try to apply any settings I get an error message saying "Permission Denied". I had looked a thread from the community earlier regarding this which is below:

Hi, I am having the exact problem as multiple users before me. Whenever I try to change the preferences in R Studio I get "Error: Permission denied". E.g. I have tried to reinstall R and R Studio multiple times, but unfortunately this does not work. In this thread, the user found a solution by "giving permission into the .config directory under my sudo user". However, I don't know how to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! I was however not able to find the configuration files mentioned in the thread for Rstudio. I am currently running Rstudio September 2021 Build 372 with R version 4.1.2 that supports the apple silicone chips such as M1.

Could someone please tell me how I can fix this issue?
