Statistical Average issues with R

I am trying to use Arsenal to gain summary statistics between two groups. However, it keeps giving me a count of the different values rather than an average?
Example:
Fractional shortening (25-50 are the values) and instead of giving me the average between the two groups it is giving me (7 -25, 6-26, 4-28, 5-29, etc). I have another value EF which has similar numbers and it worked perfectly? Any ideas why this is happening? I have edited both groups to be numeric.
