Social Links and download disappear when navbar used in Quarto website

Hello, I am developing a Quarto website (book) at: https://globalfamilies.quarto.pub/global-families-project/.

I would like to use a navbar in the site. However, when I insert a navbar into my site, the download and social links (as created by downloads: [pdf] and sharing: [twitter, facebook, linkedin] in my _quarto.yml file disappear from the sidebar. Is there any way around this behavior? Is this a bug?

Providing a reproducible example (like a github repo) would help. Also be sure to try latest versions.
