Setting up Observable in Quarto

Good morning,

I've been wanting to try out observable in Quarto. I'm a complete Observable/JS beginner, so I thought I'd start with something simple. My qmd file looks like this, which in theory should create an input range.

title: "OJS TEST"
    toc: false
    echo: false
    keep-hidden: true
    code-tools: true

//| panel: input
viewof y = Inputs.range([0, 100], {label: "Amount", step: 1})

However, my document renders looking like this:

Am I missing something fundamental here? From the Quarto documentation it looks like it should just work - is there something else I need to download or set up?

Using Quarto version 1.2.269.

Hello @JackDavison ,

it works for me without problems on Quarto 1.2.137 .
I am not aware of doing anything special but I have a Java runtime(1.8) installed.
Do not know if that is necessary.
For system and R things see sessionInfo below.

Back-tick problems (in this forum) can be avoided by enclosing your code with (at least) one more backtick than you have in your code: I see three backticks in your code so enclose it with four backticks:

you see 4 backticks so you know I have used five to display these in this forum

As a development, it appears when I open the local host (i.e., http://localhost:XXXX/) I can see the OJS slider, but I cannot see it if I just open the rendered HTML or look in the RStudio viewer pane.

Is this expected behaviour?
