RStudio screen goes blank for a long-running process

I have a process that runs for days, starting and stopping local cluster and running compute-intensive foreach calculations. While it's running, the screen eventually stops refreshing and looks like this:

When the process stops, the screen refreshes, but I really need to monitor the process and can't wait a week. Is it possible to refresh the screen somehow? Or do I need to go back to emacs?
