Rstudio project and new Google Drive problem

Hi Everyone,

I am using Rstudio while storing my files on Google Drive (the newest version).
My problem is that when I open a project in a folder shared via Google Drive all the scripts in the projects are not loaded but the history (.Rdata) is loaded. However, Rstudio works perfectly on projects that are not shared via Google Drive.

This problem is driving me crazy since I continuously switch from laptop to a desktop. In my current Google Drive setup, I share and mirror my work folders (I do not use/open my files directly from the virtual drive) on a laptop and a desktop.

I understand from past topics that the problem is in the .Rproj.user folder and a potential conflict with Google Drive during syncing. I have seen that this was a problem in the past but I cannot figure out how to solve it since the selective sync function in Google Drive has been removed.

Is there a way to fix this?

I have been using Insync software to manage Google Drive for a few years. It lets me ignore the .Rproj.user folder.

Thanks for the tip! I wasn't aware of Insync.
But still wondering if there is a direct fix rather than using an additional program.
