Hi All, I'm a dreaded newbie for sure. I just installed R 3.6.0 and RStudio 1.2.1335 on a Windows 10 (64 bit) computer. I was able to launch RStudio successfully, once after a reboot and work along with a tutorial for a few minutes. Then I saved a new (empty) and had to pause and come back, later.
I have uninstalled, re-installed. renamed my RStudio-Desktop file to force it to create a new one on launch. I downloaded a new copy and reinstalled.
My symptoms are:
Fresh install with no errors on installation.
R seems to launch just fine, but no console ever appears. There is an Rstudio icon in my taskbar. When i hover, it's just white, no actual screen image.
When I run task manager, I have 4 RStudio processes active that are taking a lot of memory and disk utilization.
It seems that RStudio is the preferred IDE and I need to get up and moving really quickly for this project. Thanks for your help!
Welcome to the RStudio community forums! Sorry to hear you're having trouble; hopefully we're able to figure out what's going on.
One thing worth trying: after launching RStudio, do you see an RStudio window displaying on the screen at all? If not, you can try right-clicking somewhere on the Taskbar, and clicking the Cascade windows selection. If we're lucky, that will bring the RStudio window on-screen and you should be good to go.
I already reset the state - a few times and cleanly re-installed - a couple of times when that didn't work. I also uninstalled R and reinstalled and downloaded fresh copies of both installation packages assuming a bit of corruption. R launches just fine on it's own. Cascading windows does not make the Rstudio window appear.
Now, I have 3 processes listed under RStudio, using quite a lot of memory. they are Qt Qtwebengineprocess, RStudio, and RStudio R Session. Other times, I've had 1-4.
