RStudio IDE Linux can't navigate outside home directory when trying to open file or project

When trying to open a R-script file or project via the "File" menu it will show an "Open File" dialog showing my home directory. In this dialog there is no way to get out of the home directory to (for example) a mounted directory (e.g. /media/user/whatever).

In contrast, if I start the IDE with a script from that mount it will open it and when I then open the "File" menu and open the "Open File" dialog it will show the correct directory and it lets me navigate everywhere on the system correctly. Until I go into my home directory, then it again gets stuck in that directory...

Any help appreciated!
