RStudio hanging up even with simple commands in console

To Whom it may concern,

I use RStudio every week and have been doing so for over the past decade. Unfortunately, I've run into a bug where my console hangs up even with simple commands (e.g., 1 + 1) and I cannot use the ESC button to quit the operation. Unfortunately, I need to shut it down. I only use Windows Defender and it hasn't interfered with performance in the past. I've followed previous advice and looked at RStudio log files. There seems to be some warnings and errors, but I have no idea on how to interpret it. Any suggestions? This is my first post, and so I'm unsure if I can share any of my logs with someone to get advice.

You can definitely post excerpts of log files here. If the logs mention something about the R session being disconnected, it may be that Defender is getting in the way.
