RStudio GUI is blank on Ubuntu

Description of issue -
RStudio won't launch since yesterday on my laptop. The window opens, but the display is blank. The shell command top shows 100% CPU usage.

Attempted steps taken to fix -
I have reinstalled R and RStudio, removed every configuration files (.local/share/rstudio, ...)

System Information:

  • RStudio Edition: Desktop
  • RStudio Version: 2022.02.0-443-amd64.deb
  • OS Version: Ubuntu 20.04
  • R Version: 4.1.3

Sounds like RStudio desktop hangs at start-up in several recent operating system versions e.g. Ubuntu 22.04 & Fedora 35 · Issue #9854 · rstudio/rstudio · GitHub. We're adding support for ubuntu 20.04 with an upcoming version which should have a preview ready in the next couple months.
