My issue is that I want to change the font type in an rmd, while knitting to pdf_document.
The specification is the following: Calibri, 10.5 pt, 1.5 pt row space, 6 pt space. Is there a way to solve this in rmd?

As you are looking at a pdf_document output, Rmarkdown will use the pandoc latex template. You can then set some options for Pandoc to take into account regarding Fonts.
