RMarkdown: create a new pargraph with something else than a banlk line

In R Markdown, to create a new paragraph I would use a blank line:

Paragraph 1

Paragraph 2

Is there a way to create a new paragraph with something else than a blank line?

Use case: I am writing a presentation in R Markdown and I am using the VIM keybindings.

I would like blank lines to separate slides, not paragraphs, so I can use the keybinding { and } to switch between slides
