On all platforms, have this be installable side-by-side. On Linux, call it "rstudio-beta" or something, so it can install next to the production-quality rstudio.

If you're on a platform that supports it, you can run stable RStudio Desktop and run the preview in RStudio Server. Or you can run the server in a Docker container.
I do it the other way around - I run the Preview on the desktop and stable in a Docker container.
