References not showing when appendix is added

I have installed the latest demo of bookdown. I added a citation in one of the chapters and it appears at the end of the chapter and under References, which is fine.
However, when I add appendix.Rmd, the citation(s) disapears from References. If appendix.Rmd is deleted, the citation appears back in References.

Is this still an issue ?

If so, are you able to provide a reproducible example ? Or steps to follow so that I can reproduce.

Just so we are clear, References are always added at the end of the document, unless you specific the position differently.
