R studio fails to start

Error Information: api-ms-win-crt-runtimel1-1-0.dll missing

Description of issue - the above msg comes up when i try to start R studio. R studio fails to start. I recently installed Rx64 3.6.1 and R studio 1.2.1335 desktop. My system has windows 7 ultimate 64 bit installed.

Attempted steps taken to fix - re installed several times.

System Information:

  • RStudio Edition: (Desktop or Server) desktop
  • RStudio Version: 1.2.1335
  • OS Version: windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
  • R Version: Rx64 3.6.1
  • Output your diagnostics report (if possible):

This usually implies your operating system is out-of-date -- have you installed the most recent Windows 7 updates?

Note that Microsoft also will be ending support for Windows 7 in January 2020 so we would strongly recommend you upgrade to a newer operating system if at all possible.
