I hope that someone of you can help me. I want to perform a Rasch analysis in R using the package TAM. The installation and opening of the package works just fine. However, when I try to perform the function tam.mml(dataset -1) I get the error messaga of a "fatal error" and that R studio session was aborted. I have tried it a couple of times now. I have also uninstalled and installed the package again, but it still keeps crashing my session.
Has anyone of you encountered such a problem before and can help me to resolve my issue?
Without a reprex and information regarding versions of operating system, R and RStudio, which can be obtained with sessionInfo() and from the RStudio menu bar Help|About RStudio, the only thing that can be suggested is to try the same code directly in a terminal session.
So, the R version that I am using is 3.5.1 (2018-07-02)
Platform: x86_64-w64-mingw32/x64 (64-bit)
Running under: Windows >= 8 x64 (build 9200).
Here is my minimal working example:

So, there are actually two possibilites. The second one would be the one that is correct for me:
tam.mml(dat[,-1])
tam.mml(dat[,-1]-1) # correct one
When I run this code on the minimal working example, everything seems to work just fine.
Also, when I run the first code on my dataset, everything is fine. However, as soon as I run the second code with the -1 the session is aborted.
The reprex below shows that the code runs correctly under R 4.0.2, RStudio 1.3.1056 and Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.
Lagging major releases of R will lead to increasing difficulties with time. Windows I have no experience with in the last 20, so I can't do more than to speculate that it could be due to insufficient memory, a corrupt disk sector or some such. If RStudio isn't current, that could also cause problems.

It's not certain that RAM is the problem, unless the machine is seriously underpowered for its background processes, including any zombie processes that are hogging resources. Windows OS issues are not something that I can help with, however.
