R package with COVID data at region level for Italy

Hi all,

I'm supporting a friend of mine at UniFi who would like to apply a Bayesian SIR model to COVID data at a region level (Lombardy, Tuscany, etc.) in Italy. The data can be downloaded from

but a tidy API such as that of tidycovid19, which provides some convenient visualizations and summaries, would be very useful. Unfortunately, tidycovid19 (which is a great package, btw) provides data at the country level. Do you know of any packages with similar capabilities, but providing subnational level data for Italy? Thanks in advance!

how can you calculate beta and gamma in SIR model for covid?
