Questions about secure sharing

I have a few questions related to sharing/storing content and security:

  • What are the inherent differences between private link sharing vs. role based access (through the new organizational account)?

  • Does Connect Cloud meet HIPPA standards?

  • What is the approximate cost for an organization account? I'm trying to assess the feasibility of having an organization account as an independent consultant (where I'm the only admin/owner/developer) but want to securely invite external people to select pieces of content. Or does private link sharing suffice?

Thanks,

Alex

Hi Alex,

1. Private link sharing is a tokenized url where the token can be revoked or changed at any time. Anyone with the url can access the content without the need to sign in to Connect Cloud. With the new org account, you can now have dedicated viewers of content who are either internal or external to your organization. When you make content available to them, they would need to sign in to Connect Cloud to be able to see what was shared. More info on sharing options by plan here: Sharing Content – Posit Connect Cloud Documentation and the Advanced org plan here: Introducing Connect Cloud for Organizations: A Flexible Way for Data Teams to Deploy and Share - Posit

  2. Connect Cloud is not specifically HIPPA compliant.

  3. Whether private link sharing is sufficient depends on your project requirements. The Advanced plan for organizations has a per seat pricing model and - at the moment - requires a 20 seat minimal which is the same as the Connect self-managed offering. Hope this helps,

Alex
