Question about random forest

Hi,

I have made a random forest model and gotten the output for the variable importance.
My question is about specific for random forest and the variable importance.
What is the impact of the correlations between explanatory variables in the variable importance measure and what to do about it?

If this question is not right for this forum I would be gradefull to get any guidance to where I might find an answer or even literature on the topic.
