Hello - Is there a roadmap for when Positron will become a beta/alpha feature of the Posit Cloud platform similar to Jupyter projects?
Hi Jeffrey,
Positron is not in Posit Workbench yet, which is what helps surface IDEs in Posit Cloud, and it is not yet on the Posit Cloud roadmap.
I'm curious, how would you plan to use Positron on Posit Cloud and how important is adding that option for you?
Best, Alex
Selfishly, I've started to prefer it over RStudio even as an R-first user.
But, I am currently working on a website that I develop locally by myself. I want to port it Posit Cloud to create a more team based atmosphere for 2-3 additional contributors. Each are python first and prefer to avoid reticulate. I figured Positron would be more likely to be added than vscode would and was just curious if there was a future for it in the posit cloud space. For the time being, I know jupyter is an option through that beta program.
My ideal workflow (future-state) is Posit Cloud (With Positron) -> Posit Connect Cloud (If/when private repos are supported; for content like APIs/Small-scale apps to embed in the website)
Regardless of the outcome, thanks for all that the Posit team does!
