This is a general complaint/suggestion.
The new RStudio version initiates a pop-up that persists even after RStudio has started up. It only goes away once I click on the RStudio session window. It's a really simple thing but man is it ever annoying. Sometimes I just start RStudio up while I'm still search for solutions. I'm not always going into the window right away. I get making a pop-up- you're promoting your brand, but it shouldn't persist like that.
It should not be staying visible. This bug has been reported, and unfortunately we have never been able to reproduce it.
As a mitigation, the next major release of RStudio (2025.08, under development) includes an option to disable showing the splash screen altogether: Provide an option to disable showing the splash screen at startup · Issue #15945 · rstudio/rstudio · GitHub.
