Next version of RStudio (after 2024.04.2): when?

When is the next version of RStudio planned to be released? Is it in August 2024?

Hi Randy,

I'm looking for the exact release date of the next version of RStudio. This information is crucial because our university updates software on campus computers annually before the academic year begins. The RStudio GitHub repo shows the release is 8 days overdue, so it's an unreliable source. The new version has important bug fixes, and if we know the release date, we can ask our engineers to wait. Otherwise, they'll install the current released version (2024.04.2) at the beginning of August.

We can't commit to exact release dates and, as such, use flower code names to refer to individual milestones. For example, Cranberry Hibiscus is the upcoming release. We do have calendar-based versioning (i.e., 2024.08.x) that is stable once we cut an official release.

We are currently resolving some recently emerged bugs (this week) discovered during our testing and certification. So, while we initially targeted a July release, we are now moving forward with a planned August release. I have updated the due date for Cranberry Hibiscus to August while we work on final bug fixing and then a follow-up certification/testing before the stable release.
