Posit Package Manager's latest 2026.06.0 release now adds support for importing and distributing plugins for AI agents!
As agent-assisted coding has become a key part of all workflows, including data science, corporate admins have been struggling to keep up with responsible governance of those tools. Plugins are a flexible framework for distributing AI skills, MCP server configuration, and other extensions supported by agents like Claude Code, Visual Studio Code, or npx skills. Package Manager can now bring that same ability to curate a custom internal repository of approved plugins that customers rely on for managing R and Python packages today.
