knit fails in rstudio with basic document

Knitting a very basic rmarkdown document, using the Knit button, fails. Please find below my session info, and the errors I receive.

I've entered a few linebreaks into the error to try and make it a bit more read-able.

Looks like pandoc (the engine behind Rmarkdown) is looking for a file, perhaps from a read-in command, and failing to find it on your machine. This causes it to error out and leave you with the fail message.

Could you include the Rmd code you are using?
