Hi, I am having troubles with installing RStudio on my laptop. I have installed R and have the Installer-exe on my laptop but every time I try to install it does nothing. I have the older RStudio version (RStudio 3.3.3), do I have to delete that one first to download the newer version? I need the 4.4.1 version so I can do my homework, but I tried to download the 4.4.2, is that also ok??
If you run the installer from a command prompt, do you see any error messages?
No i don't see any error messages, I can install it normally but after finishing it, there is no app I can open except for the older RStudio version.
Just to confirm, after installing 4.4.x and opening RStudio, Help > About RStudio pops up a message giving 3.3.3 as the version number?
Just to be clear, is it the newer version of R or of RStudio that you need? They are two different products.
If it's RStudio Help/Check for Updates.
If you've installed the newer version of R but RStudio isn't finding it, do Tools/Global Options/General/R Version and hit Change to see what versions of R you can choose from RStudio.

omg thank you so much, I think I just had to change my settings in the global options and I was still using the older version of R.
