In Ubuntu 22.04, when trying to navigate from the default Home directory to another location that is not under it, the operation is blocked.
If, for instance, you want to navigate from the root directory, "/", you have to call setwd("/") from the Console.
The graphical interface blocks the input field to specify the directory location, as you can see in the following image:
