If character vector is too long, it does not work in interactive mode unless it is

Not sure what is going on here but, if I try to create a veery long character vector in a single line (see EXAMPLE 1 below), the Console gets stuck with a + sign (I need three """ for it to give an Error: unexpected string constant ).

But, If I split the same exact vector in two lines, it works (see EXAMPLE 2).

It also works if I source the file.

Any idea if this is a bug and if that is the case, where to report it?

yeah, if you like we can discuss your workflow? there may be more efficient ways for you to move things around.
In other words, how do you generate the c() vector you want to run in the console, presumably you don't hand type it but construct it through some process ?

I am creating automatic checks that use {testthat} to "snapshot" the state (e.g. column names) of a given dataframe.

When I rerun the project using {targets}, those tests are run, comparing the snapshotted column names with the current ones.

I was building those functions in interactive mode, and found out about the console limit the hard way :slight_smile:
