How to name files : dash or underscore?

To name files, should I use dash or underscore e.g. use my_file_name.RDS or my-file-name.RDS? Why?

I vote for underscore

I tend to use dashes because I've had problem in the past with LaTeX processing files with underscores. I don't recall having that issue recently, so it may be a non-issue.

I vote for underscores as they seem to be easier to read when you are browsing a folder...
Been using a format like 01Jan20_Did_this_for_that.R for naming for my files and it works really, really well (do the same for pictures, csv's, pdf's or rmd's). Extra cool if you tend to email results on the same day and then have to dig them months after.
