How to manually add multiple citations in visual mode?

Hi all,

When editing an rmd document in visual mode, typing [@ brings up the citation lookup as expected. However, if trying to insert multiple citations (e.g. [@doe1989; @...), the second ampersand is entered in escape mode. (i.e., switching to code view shows that it's entered as \@). Is this a bug, or an expected behavior? Is there a way to force rstudio to recongnize the second amerpsand as a second citation reference?

Does this still happens with Last preview version available ?

Or with the insert citation dialog ?
