How to filter packages

Hi,
I'm new to RStudio. My questions are related to RStudio package management. How can I implement filters to exclude certain package downloads from cran to the local repository? Whether or not the filters are also applied to Rserver and Rconnect? I'd highly appreciate it if anyone is willing to provide me with answers.
