How to define S4 methods cbind and rbind once cbind2 and rbind2 are defined?

Hello,

I have defined some S4 objects for which I want cbind and rbind. I managed to define cbind2 and rbind2. Is there a way to more or less automatically derive cbind and rbind from cbind2 and rbind2? Otherwise, what is the way to go?
