How can I create a 'Show Git Pane' Shortcut?

How can I go about creating a "Show Git Pane" shortcut that will work similar to the standard "Show Environment Pane" shortcut?

Based on this answer to a related thread, I believe I need to create an Addin, but even after reading the RStudio Addins Overview I don't know where to begin.
