Github CoPilot integration

Trying to use this at work, which allows for the use of github copilot via the corp license. I was able to authenticate with github copilot. I only see the same 4 models available as Posit Assistant offers. It's not clear to me if I'm all good to use this at work or not and if my code / queries are being sent to the corp approved github copilot or through the posit assistant. I'll use it at home for now until I can be more sure that I won't get fired for using this at work.

Hi Cory,

GitHub Copilot cannot power Posit Assistant, only the Anthropic models that you see in the chatbox and that are provided by your Posit AI account.

My guess is that you authenticated with GitHub, which is one of Posit AI's authentication methods but that is unrelated to Copilot or anything AI related.

We would not recommend using the beta version of Posit Assistant for sensitive data as described in the docs, invite email, and beta agreement.

Hope this clarifies. Best,

Alex

Sounds good. What does changing the code assistant option to github do then?

Selecting GitHub Copilot for "Use code assistant" uses the existing RStudio Copilot feature (i.e. been in RStudio for a few years) for GitHub Copilot completions in the editor. This doesn't use Posit AI.
