The files pane does not update as new files are created, updated, or deleted by code. If I manually leave the directory and then re-enter it, the list of files is then updated.
Using RStudio Desktop Free 2022.07.1 Build 554 on a Mac running OS Monterey 12.5.1. This has been going on for a while. I do not know if it is a configuration issue or a cache issue or a bug. Open to suggestions.

What you are describing is normal RStudio behavior. There is a "refresh file listing" button in the top-right of the Files pane which makes updating quicker (but you've still got to remember to do it!).
