Feature selection using random forests algorithm

i am selecting features using the random forest algorithm shown below

x=trainpreg[,-which(names(trainpreg) %in% c("status"))]
y=trainpreg[,which(names(trainpreg) %in% c("status"))]                   
df1 <- (data.matrix(x))
df2 <- (data.matrix(y))
RFMod <- train(x=df1,y=df2,method="rf",metric="ROC",trControl=ctrl)

this is the error i get after running it "Error in y[, "time"] : subscript out of bounds"
how do i solve this error

Thanks for providing code , but you could take further steps to make it more convenient for other forum users to help you.

Share some representative data that will enable your code to run and show the problematic behaviour.

You might use tools such as the library datapasta, or the base function dput() to share a portion of data in code form, i.e. that can be copied from forum and pasted to R session.
