Error stopping programming when installing tidyr, tidyverse and with calling the libraries.

Error: package or namespace load failed for ‘tidyr’ in loadNamespace(i, c(lib.loc, .libPaths()), versionCheck = vI[[i]]): namespace ‘vctrs’ 0.5.1 is already loaded, but >= 0.5.2 is required

I also installed and called library for scales but that did not help.
Also note that most packages require update and the update button in R Studio does not seem to work. Any help would be gratefully received. I have already uninstalled RStudio and R around 5 times trying to solve this problem.

You at least need a newer version of the vctrs package. Try running

install.packages("vctrs")

What happens when you click the Update button in RStudio?

This type of message is usually fixed with, install rather than update

install.packages("vctrs")

But that's not necessarily the end of it; a re-install may have its own outdated dependencies.
