Error Installing R 3.6 version

Hi all
I have tried many times to install R after removing the old version 3.4 from my Ubuntu 18 LTS . I get the below error:

/usr/local/bin/R: line 240: /usr/local/lib/R/etc/ldpaths: No such file or directory
/usr/local/bin/R: line 263: /usr/local/lib/R/bin/exec/R: No such file or directory

Initially I compiled R 3.6.0 version from source and it was working okay. I then auto-remove the 3.6.0. I tried to reinstall it back but to no avail.

Kindly help.
