Abstract: DSFworld is a research tool for biochemists doing Differential Scanning Fluorimetry (DSF), a biochemical assay to determine protein stability. DSFworld has two parts: (1) an interactive computational model, to help users build a working intuition for the concepts underlying DSF, and (2) a data analysis and visualization tool.
Full Description: Differential Scanning Fluorimetry (DSF) is a powerful biochemical experiment, and is widely used by researchers in academia, industry, and government labs. DSF is extremely easy, and requires no specialized instruments or materials, which makes it highly accessible to researchers around the world. However, because DSF doesn't have a specialized instrument with associated softwares, users typically don't have access to good data analysis. DSFworld was built to overcome this limitation. Furthermore, because DSF is a simple read out for a complex phenomenon, it can be difficult for users to develop a working intuition for the technique. To overcome this, DSFworld also includes an interactive online computational model, where users can tune input parameters, and observe changes to computationally generated data.
