Does anyone know why ggvis was archived?

I was wondering if anyone has any more information on why ggvis was archived.

The website says that it was archived because its not seen as the most pressing problem. But this seems a little weird. Lots of problems are not the most pressing, but they are still worth doing the bare minimum and not archiving.

It seems more logical that they became no longer confident that it was following the right approach??

Anyone have any ideas or thoughts on this?

I think they have limited bandwidth for projects they can work on at any given time and since plotly already provides a mature solution for the same needs ggvis was shooting for, they felt it was no longer relevant enough to commit resources to it.
