I recently posted this question on stackoverflow but I believe the question is better suited for this forum as the issue seems to be related to the RStudio IDE.

Yes, I'll do my best to stick to the forum policy. In this case, posting the question here - although only by link - seemed to have helped draw @jonathan attention to the post.
