how do i save a dataset in my environment pane. at the moment my environment pane dose not show anything it is completely empty. when a vreatoe a vector Such as X<-c(10:50 it dose not show in my environment pane.

That seems like a strange thing... Did you install RStudio recently? And running it with default options? Just to be clear, if you open a new script and type: x = 1, then run that line, and then look at the environment pane, there's nothing there?
