There are several ways of achieving this. Do you happen to know the site of the DiagrammeR package?
It provides good documentation to get a quick head-start.
Also, it's good to note that DiagrammerR supports both Graphviz and mermaid, which basically gives you alle the power to create the diagram you're looking for.
