Abstract
Bengaluru, also known as a city of thousand lakes, stands parched. This is the story of how a water-rich ‘Kalyana-nagara’ (blessed city) turned into a thirsty silicon valley – a tale of development gone wrong. However, amidst the gloom, there is still a hope in government action and citizen activism.
Full Description
Bengaluru, a city in the southern part of India, was once known as a land of thousand lakes. Today, less than three hundred of those lakes exist - mostly in pitiful conditions. This is a story of how a city of lakes was constructed in a geographically arid region, the importance of the lakes, and how the decline of lakes is connected with the drought and flooding of the city.
The story also talks about the hope that still exists for these lakes and the citizens of the Bengaluru.
