I am experiencing an issue when merging bibliographic collections in Biblioshiny and would like to know whether anyone has faced a similar situation or is aware of a proper solution.
I imported two bibliographic datasets separately: one from Web of Science in .bib format and another from Scopus in .csv format. For each dataset individually, in Biblioshiny, I followed the workflow Data > Import or Load > Import Raw File > Export Collection in R Data Format. In both cases, the resulting datasets correctly retained the cited references (CR field).
The problem arises when I merge the two collections using Merge Collections > Select Collection Files > Start > Export Collection (save as R data format). After the merge, the resulting dataset shows the CR (cited references) field completely empty, even though both original collections contain valid cited references.
My question is whether this behavior is expected due to structural or formatting differences between Web of Science and Scopus cited references, or if there is a recommended preprocessing step, specific parameter setting, or alternative workflow in bibliometrix/Biblioshiny that allows cited references to be preserved when merging collections from different sources.
Any guidance or shared experience on how to resolve this issue without losing cited references would be greatly appreciated, as this directly affects co-citation and bibliographic coupling analyses.
