Can't change theme in posit-workbench vscode

Whenever I am trying to set the theme (e.g. "Solarized Dark") in a vscode-web instance launched from posit-workbench, it automatically resets to the default theme within seconds.

I suspect it's the posit-workbench extension trying to propagate the "global" workbench settings to vscode. Is there any way I can prevent this from happening?
