The alternative "Open Project in New Session..." from the File menu does not work for me anymore. Nothing happens. I have tried it on two different machines and it works on neither. Possible bug?

Are you using RStudio Desktop or Server? Which version?
This has been a known bug in the builds for Ubuntu Xenial. We've just released a new preview this morning (1.1.379) which has a fix; would you be willing to give it a go and let us know if it makes things better for you?
