Cannot install RGtk2 for launching rattle

Gurus,
beginner here. I tried to initiate rattle but it returned this:

The RGtk2 package is not available but is required.
Please install the package using, for example:
install.packages("RGtk2")

then I tried to install RGtk2 and Rstudio returned this:
package ‘RGtk2’ is not available for this version of R

I also tried downloading RGtk2 from here:
https://cran.r-project.org/src/contrib/Archive/RGtk2

but when I rattle() it returned this:
package ‘RGtk2’ was installed before R 4.0.0: please re-install it

Is rattle obsolete or did I miss anything? Thanks in advance!

RGtk2

has been lonely for a long time. There appear to be ways to get it to work under current versions of R4.x but it's OS dependent. Edit your question to indicate your configuration by cutting and pasting sessionInfo()

I guess I also want to know if rattle is getting obsolete as one of the packages that it needs has been archived in CRAN

Even ancient Greek isn't yet obsolete, but it is fading. See this link for an alternative way to install dependencies.
