Can we make the shiny app available or delay the termination when VPN disconnects

Hello All, I am thinking is there a way that i can delay the termination of shiny app whereas I am accessing my rstudio over an ip address. The actual idea is that rstudio can be accessed only through VPN the Rstudio remains idle but the app gets terminated when i disconnect from vpn.Is there any possibility for the delay app termination.
