I assume that you started with a template for a curriculum vitae .
Did you have problems with compiling the template (before making changes)?
Did you already do a successful LaTeX compile in your current environment?
If not can you try to compile a simple .tex file.
If that succeeds, you know at least that your LaTeX environment works fine.
Please let us also know why you think that the LaTeX compile failed.
Was a message shown? If that is the case let us know which.
Did you check the reference you provided?
You should have a .log file that was created and that contains the LaTeX error, or at least more info in the message itself.
