Bookdown is not rendering well

I am trying to render bookdown document, and the text is not rendering well (see screenshot below). I am using bookdown::render_book('index.Rmd', 'bookdown::gitbook') to render the site, and here is the output I am getting:

Bookdown setting available in this repo:

Any suggestions?
